“We Shall Be Free.” sung by Garth Brooks

With God Anything Is Possible!
We are on the road!!!

In the daily reflection from Keene United Church, Rev. Nancy Wilson sent the words of “We Shall Be Free” sung by Garth Brooks and written by Brooks and Stephanie Davis. Their vision of our world is my hope and dream. It makes life worth living. It will take all of us working together to make it a reality. With God, anything is possible. We can build this vision of our world.

“When the last child cries for a crust of bread,
When the last man dies for just words that he said,
When there’s shelter over the poorest head,
We Shall be free.

When the last thing we notice is the color of the skin,
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within,
When the skies and the oceans are clean again,
We shall be free.

We shall be free, we shall be free.
Stand straight, walk proud,
Cause we shall be free.

When we’re free to love anyone we choose,
When this world’s big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
We shall be free.”

In 1992, this song was a hit. Are we there yet? No! Still we have taken some steps here in Canada. It’s a long, long road but we are on the way. I am grateful.

Hope – Despair. You choose your team. I’m joining in with hope and striving to make a difference in our world. I have hope that someday we will all be free.
